This Telemedicine Policy explains how telemedicine services are provided, the risks and benefits involved, and patient responsibilities when using telemedicine through CPAPClub.org.
Telemedicine refers to the delivery of healthcare services using electronic communication technologies, such as:
Secure video conferencing
Phone consultations
Secure messaging
Remote review of CPAP device data
Telemedicine allows CPAP Club to provide CPAP follow-up care and sleep apnea–related services without requiring an in-person visit when clinically appropriate.
Telemedicine services provided through CPAP Club may include:
CPAP therapy follow-up visits
Review of CPAP/APAP/BiPAP compliance and performance data
Sleep apnea education and counseling
Treatment planning and recommendations
Telemedicine services are not appropriate for all conditions, and CPAP Club may require an in-person visit or referral when necessary.
Telemedicine services provided by CPAP Club are not intended for emergency situations.
If you experience symptoms that may represent a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department immediately.
By participating in telemedicine services through CPAPClub.org, you acknowledge and agree that:
Telemedicine is voluntary
You may withdraw consent at any time
You have the right to request in-person care when clinically appropriate
A provider-patient relationship is established only after proper intake and acceptance into care
Separate written or electronic consent may be required prior to telemedicine visits.
Telemedicine involves electronic communication and technology that may include inherent risks, such as:
Technical failures
Unauthorized access despite safeguards
Interruption of services
CPAP Club uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards consistent with HIPAA requirements; however, no system is completely secure.
To participate in telemedicine services, patients are responsible for:
Providing accurate and complete health information
Ensuring a private location during telemedicine visits
Using compatible devices and internet connections
Not recording telemedicine visits without provider consent
Failure to meet these responsibilities may result in termination or rescheduling of services.
As part of telemedicine services, CPAP Club may review CPAP device data remotely.
By participating, you authorize CPAP Club to:
Access CPAP/APAP/BiPAP data
Review compliance, pressure settings, leak data, and usage metrics
Use data solely for treatment and care optimization
CPAP data is not used for marketing or non-clinical purposes.
Telemedicine services provided by CPAP Club are offered on a self-pay basis only.
No insurance billing or claims submission
Payment is due at the time of service unless otherwise stated
Patients are responsible for all telemedicine service fees
You acknowledge that telemedicine:
May limit physical examination capabilities
May not detect all conditions
Is not a replacement for comprehensive in-person evaluation when required
CPAP Club reserves the right to discontinue telemedicine services if clinically inappropriate.
Telemedicine encounters are documented in your medical record in the same manner as in-person visits.
Medical records are maintained in accordance with applicable federal and Washington State laws.
This Telemedicine Policy may be updated periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of telemedicine services constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
